The group A Barca and Chico Saraiva’s own career blend. In the same year as Chico finishes recording his first CD, in 1999, he enters A Barca. The group of friends joined to play material collected by Mário de Andrade (1893 – 1945), in his expeditions inside the country to register the Brazilian music. Over the last 20 years, A Barca has become a cohesive group performing and inspiring new listeners.
Together they traveled within the country searching for traditional music and songs from different regions in Brazil whose culture is so rich and plural. In fact, each immersion has immensely contributed to all the members’ careers – in the specific case of Chico Saraiva this cultural background has become evident.
